Tomb Raider 5 was originally designed to run on Windows 95/98/ME. To install Tomb Raider 5 on Windows 2000/XP/Vista follow the guidelines below.

Essential Software

» Tomb Raider Series XP/Vista Multipatch (Download - Freeware) Documentation
If you are experiencing problems with the game try this patch. Fix allows full screen mode in high resolutions without crashing. When this patch is installed do not use Windows 98 compatibility mode.

Optional Software

» Rad Video Tools (Download)
Core Design used RAD Tools' Bink Video true-color video codec to produce the Full Motion Videos in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. The RAD Video Tools are compatible with Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 and XP. If you are experiencing problems with the in game FMV videos use Rad Tools to play them externally.

Installing the Game

The installation program will run ok on Windows XP/2000 and should install normally. Once the installation is complete exit the autorun menu by pressing Cancel. You cannot use the Autorun menu to play the game.

Download and install the Tomb Raider Series XP/Vista Multipatch (Download - Freeware) before playing the game as you may experience crashes and slow loading times.

Common Problems

» I cannot save the game.
Do not run the game from the CD autorun menu. Cancel the startup screen and the run the game through the Start menu.

» Lara is moving erratically.
Sudden movements or running in circles is attributed to the games incompatibility with your joystick/ gamepad or game port. Try running the game with the controller unplugged. Check the latest drivers and DirectX are installed.

» Error message when you install or start Tomb Raider 5:
C:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

This issue may occur if one or more of the following files are missing or damaged.

CONFIG.NT
AUTOEXEC.BAT
COMMAND.COM
